First hike with GR/Another Summit and it was great! Short hike but the leaders Elena and Aaron made it very enjoyable. They provided educational info about the trail and local history. The meditation/relaxation time was very calming. Thank you!

Good simple thing that any vet can do... vets always find comfort doing stuff and what makes its better when some food involved

The name memorizing exercise was a nice touch to familiarize us with one another & to maintain the integrity of the group. It’s always nice to get out & meet new people who are coming together for the same interests. I really loved finally getting around to exploring the rose 🌹 garden. I have to make visiting that section a practice (like I do the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory) especially during the peak of the blooming season. The choices of food for lunch was also very gratifying & fulfilling. I think another MilVet should expect a very pleasantly rewarding day hiking, exploring & learning about the designated environment while getting to know new people with Guardian Revival - Another Summit.

It was so great to get out for the day! There were more vets than usual at these types of things, maybe because it was so accessible by train from the city? But the weather was great (even though that would be beyond Another Summit's control, but they picked a great time of year to visit the Botanical Garden), the activity level was just right for a couple hours, and there were plenty of breaks for those who needed it but the freedom to keep moving if that was what you wanted to do. These events aren't designed to be challenging or physically demanding, although some of the other hikes might be, but the organization is really good about making sure people know that ahead of time. I think some people were a little disappointed we didn't get a guided tour or anything, but I thought it was well done and the Another Summit leader knew where to go and kept everyone engaged. I hope to get to more of these in the future.

I loved to the two leaders, Dawn & Craig, they were so welcoming & knew the trail like the back of their hand. When reaching out to other MilVets, know they will be welcomed with open arms accompanied by great folks & a challenging yet exciting hike with great views. The only thing is perhaps make the meet-up a little more organized; even then it was a great trip still!

Great job! I loved my vegan lunch and really appreciate all of the hard work and care that the organizers put into making this such a great day. It was great being at the NYBG on this great Halloween weekend. I really appreciate it that one of the organizers walked me across the grounds to help me find the bathroom when I had to go.

As always I loved the opportunity to inhale fresh air. This time we learned an exercise for relaxation, we practiced it by Swan Lake at the Rockefeller Park in Sleepy Hollow NY. Very calm. Not scary :). We also visited the Union Church of Pocantico Hills, a non-denominational church. The guided tour explained everything about it.

This outing was fantastic! Aaron and Leslie were such accommodating and informative leaders. I love that they not only took us out in nature and on a tour, but that they also have really great tips for things to do while hiking, such as giving us tools to identify plants and birds and a meditation. They also bought us breakfast and lunch, which is always a big plus for me when food is included. And they covered our transportation which is very helpful to get out of the city, especially when you don’t have a car, but can’t afford to take days trips. I appreciate that they do hikes for people with physical disabilities and limitations.

Outing 911 Memorial Sun 9/11/2022 This was my first time at the 911 Memorial. I will cherish this visit. It won’t be my last visit. It was truly moving. It was a great city hike in Lower Manhattan and throughout the trail we saw statues and memorials commemorating the people that are part of that area’s history, military and civilian, dating back to 1524. I appreciate the leader’s understanding for waiting for the participants and staying later than planned to complete the hike.

Had a great time with the group on 9/11 hike up Torne Mountain. We held a remembrance for those who lost their lives at the WTC. It was a sobering moment.

I love that this group is available to those that want to attend. Expanding the program membership would improve it - get the word out. This is a wonderful group for military and first responders to get out and enjoy nature, burn off some steam and be with people who have similar experiences and backgrounds.

Wonderful way to honor the memory of those killed on 9/11, especially the members of FDNY, NYPD, and PAPD who gave their lives trying to save others. Well organized hike, love spending time with this group of awesome people. And special thanks to the retired firefighter who brought the memorial stone we carried.

This was a very informative training session. I learned how barriers keep people from joining an event and how to make sure as many people can be included. The teacher was very knowledgeable on the subject and was good at teaching all levels if participants.

The leader is amazing! The place is quiet and conducive to learning. The program is challenging but doable. The day is quiet varied including indoor and outdoor time, individual and group work. I would highly recommend this, especially to people who have little experience with the outdoors as they build confidence and competence in a wonderful field.

Had a great time at the Snowshoeing event with our very knowledgeable guide, Aaron! Learned a lot on the way up and got to meet a lot of great fellow veterans. I recommend these trips for anyone who doesn't set aside a lot of time to coordinate a trip out of the city (like myself), its a great way to just show up and have a lot of fun.

The Another Summit team is great! They planned all of the logistics, which played out flawlessly. Their staff is responsive and respectful. Our crew went snowshoeing, for which Another Summit provided the necessary equipment. We even got some outdoor educated, which made for an even more memorable time. Highly recommended!

I had a great time on our snowshoeing/hike in Cold Springs! Aaron was very accomodating and gave wonderful, non judgmental advice when I arrived with too many layers for the trip (I'd never hiked up a mountain in the snow and my hands sometimes gets cold quickly). They provided everyone with hand/toe warmers and the option of snowshoes or cleats depending on what you wanted to try (I went with cleats). We learned how to navigate using trail maps/markers and they brought us to some beautiful views of the valley, the Hudson, West Point and the Catskill mountains (you could even see the NYC skyline from up there!). We learned a lot of history about the area and got to see some natural splendor from great vantage point. All in all a well-spent Sunday. I'm glad I said yes to this trip.
